Surfing Hawaii

Hawaii is one-of-a-kind paradise with panoramic water falls and quiet streets. It has some of the best surfing on the planet with its warm beaches and tropical waters. One surfing spot that Old Man’s Surf Report uses is Kohala Lighthouse on the Big Island of Hawaii. Kohala Lighthouse has an exposed reef break that has fairly consistent waves. Winter is the best time of year for surfing at Kohala Lighthouse. Ideal winds are from the south and clean groundswells prevail mostly at that time of year. This left hand reef break can handle most phases of the tides.
